SWEENY UP 12 SPOTS AFTER RECORD BREAKING QUALIFYING SESSION

Blanchard Racing Team Super Spill and Safety Solutions Cooldrive Auto Parts driver Bailey Sweeny will start Race 2 from the third row after a stunning qualifying session, during Round 5 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series at Mount Panorama, Bathurst.

Sweeny produced a time of 2:05.408 to be just 0.7978 of a second off pole sitter Lochie Dalton who broke the lap record around the 6 km circuit.

Sweeny had started Race 1 from 8th but a late stewards 15 second penalty put him back to 18th, meaning a 12 spot rise for race 2.

Previously Sweeny had finished Practice on Day 1 in 4th position, with severe weather affecting the running.

During the session, Lochie Dalton broke the Super2 qualifying lap record at Mount Panorama and secured a clean sweep both Boost Mobile Pole Awards for Round 5 at the Repco Bathurst 1000.

There wasn't a cloud in the sky as the field rolled out onto Mount Panorama this morning, with ambient temperatures sitting at 16 degrees, it was set to be a fast 

Jobe Stewart broke up the Ford stranglehold, jumping to second on the opening lap of his second run just 0.038s off Gray, whilst Brad Vaughan leapt up to fifth.

Goodall's wing was repaired with enough time to spare for one flying lap, which was good enough to place him in fifth, ahead of Sweeny, Stewart, Zach Bates, Campbell Logan, and Cody Burcher

The penultimate round of the Dunlop Super2 Series concludes with Race 2 at 4:05pm local time.
