HARD CHARGING SWEENY GAINS COSTLY PENALTY - RACE 1 - BATHURST
Blanchard Racing Team Super Spill and Safety Solutions Cooldrive Auto Parts driver Bailey Sweeny has been classified as 18th, in Race 1 during Round 5 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series at Mount Panorama, Bathurst.
Sweeny had started the race from 8th.
Previously Sweeny had finished Practice on Day 1 in 4th position, with severe weather affecting the running.
Lochie Dalton led from lights to flag over series leader and Tickford teammate Rylan Gray.
There was drama before the race for the returning Jonathon Webb, who was disqualified from qualifying after failing the post-session technical inspection.
A seventh place start turned into a rear of grid start.

Dalton had a stumble before the start, well overshooting his grid box at the end of the formation lap, however he regrouped to keep the lead off the start over Gray.
Unfortunately, whilst fighting for the remaining top 10 spot late in the race, a touch on Zach Bates saw stewards hand the No 33 a 15-second penalty, seeing Sweeny’s possible Top 10 finish drop him back to 18th overall at the conclusion.
