Driving the #33 Ford Mustang, Sweeny mastered challenging damp but drying conditions at Mount Panorama, producing a superb 2:05.7366 lap late in qualifying.
His time was 0.2828 seconds faster than Ryan Tomsett, with Nash Morris third and teammate Lochie Dalton fourth, completing a Ford Mustang lockout of the top four positions.
The result follows Sweeny’s maiden Super2 pole position on Friday, when he edged Morris by just 0.0111 seconds in the Top Five Shootout.
After finishing second in Friday’s opening race, Sweeny has demonstrated exceptional consistency and speed across the Bathurst weekend.
With two pole positions and a podium already secured, Sweeny will now be determined to convert his impressive qualifying pace into victory in Saturday afternoon’s second Super2 race at Mount Panorama.
