SWEENY SHINES - POINTS + PODIUMS BANKED AT IPSWICH
Blanchard Racing Team driver Bailey Sweeny has come through a stellar weekend, home in 13th place in Race 2, on Day 3, of Round 4, of the 2025 Dunlop Super 2 series at Queensland Raceway at Ipswich.
In a fantastic weekend for the Batemans Bay local, Sweeny secured his first podium in the series, topped the qualifying times sheets on a number of occasions and went under the race lap record at Queensland Raceway.
Points wise, it was Sweeny’s best weekend of the year so far, finishing 6th overall from the 23 car field.
Race 1 saw his first podium in the championship. The Dunlop Super2 Series is a critical stepping stone in driver development, the pathway to the Repco Supercars Championship and a place where a young driver can hone their skills and showcase their talent in front of the championship teams.

In race 2, Jackson Walls claimed his maiden race and round wins in the Dunlop Super2 Series.
After qualifying in another strong 6th place for Race 2, Sweeny eventually made it home in 13th, in a ‘Safety car marred’ tough race for all.
When the race went back to green on Lap 20, there was just under seven minutes remaining, and Morris stuck with Walls off the initial restart as the Triple Eight Commodore fired off the final corner.
There was plenty going on in the midfield, as Cody Burcher and Sweeny boxed on at Turn 5, with Sweeny escorted wide and tumbling down the pack, with Max Geoghegan then going off at Turn 6 after going three-wide with Sweeny and Jobe Stewart.
Bates' wild race then went from bad to worse when he speared into the side of Ayrton Hodson at Turn 6 in a fight at the back of the field, with Bates eventually bringing the #1 Commodore into the lane and retiring.
Sweeny was also involved in an incident on the final corner of the race, with Bradi Owen copping the worst of it and being pushed wide after a touch from Jobe Stewart.
Points wise, it was Sweeny’s best weekend of the year so far.
The penultimate round of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series will take place at the Repco Bathurst 1000 from October 9-12, which will feature a Boost Mobile Top Five Shootout on Friday.
